Tulia Ackson, president of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), emphasized China’s unique approach to democracy, highlighting the people-centered governance model. By prioritizing policies that improve public services and national progress, China has shown how democracy enhances people’s well-being. Ackson noted that China's experience offers hope to other Global South countries, many seeing China’s achievements, including the role of the National People’s Congress over the past 70 years, as proof that different paths to democracy can succeed. "We don't have to have one form of democracy to be conformed by everybody," Ackson remarked, emphasizing that governance should be shaped by local realities to ensure sustainable development.
